This page will be the home for all the information relating to Larkin 2024. We can start with the information we shared with parents in September/October 2023.
What is Larkin?
Larkin is North Yorkshire’s International Scout and Guide Jamboree – Being held for the first time in 2024, promising a week of fun and adventure celebrating Yorkshire Day 2024. https://www.larkinjamboree.org.uk
The programme is work in progress, but for those who attended Ignite, think of that but much bigger and longer!

Where is Larkin?
Duncombe Park, Helmsley. About an hour’s drive away.
How much will this cost?
There is a cost from the organisers. We have to do our own catering and add that on top. We may manage to throw in a t-shirt.
Around £380
Payment is in monthly instalments via GoCardless (who handle our subs) on a separate DD to the one you use for subs.
There will be 8 payments of £42 and a final payment of £44. Paid monthly starting in November, through to July. If things go well with budgeting we may be able to reduce the final payment. It is unlikely we will charge more than £380.
If you want to pay the full amount (and I know this is a bit of a faff) you have the option to click into each payment in OSM and make payment immediately.

How can I help?
Join us for the week (or some days) as long as you won’t cramp the style of your Scout/Explorer.
Help us load/transport gear.
Something we have not thought of yet.
Will other sections be going?
This will depend on the number of adult volunteers we get. A decision will be taken later on this. We will prioritise older sections, but if we can make it, the following is available for other sections:
- Cubs, 3 days and 2 nights
- Beavers, 2 days and 1 night
- Squirrels, 1 day
Those visits will all be midweek.

Signing up for Larkin 2024

This is a quick guide to how you sign up.
- Go to Parent Portal and log in
- You should see a list of your children and against the ones of Scout/Explorer age you should see an “available”pending event
- Click through to the event and select whether the young person is attending (or not)
- This should trigger an email to ask you to sign up for payments. We are aware that the email message may be asking you to sign up for a payment in July, but you are signing up for the whole schedule.
- You don’t need to click the link in the email, in OSM you can click on payments under the young person’s name
- There you will see a new schedule called Larkin 2024 (or similar)
- Clicking in the event will give you a list of payments in the schedule right through to July next year. Here you have two options:
- Create a subscription using the link in the top corner
- Make individual payments against monthly instalments.
- If your plan is to pay monthly, just create a subscription and we’ll deal with the rest monthly.
- If you want to pay off all of the balance, or more than just next month, create a subscription using the link THEN you can click on individual payments to make them immediately. They will be taken from the account you give details for ASAP.
