This year’s Family Camp will take place at Thornton Watlass Hall, Thornton Watlass, Bedale. HG4 4AS
Date: Friday 14th to Sunday 16th September. The camp will open officially on Friday14th September at 8pm but everyone is invited to arrive any time on Friday to pitch tents and get settled in. The camp will close on Sunday 16th September at 2pm. Your camp fee includes all catering starting with breakfast on Saturday morning.
Who is it for: All members of our Scout Group and their families including siblings.
Beavers and Cubs will need to be accompanied by an adult.
Scouts and Explorers do not need to be accompanied but of course, their families are very welcome to come along!
Sleeping arrangements: Families will provide their own sleeping accommodation. We have some spare tents so if you need to borrow one please let us know at time of booking.
Caravans and motorhomes are welcome but please note this is a green field site so there is no hard standing…………or electric hook up!
Scouts and Explorers can choose to sleep with their family or with the other young people. Please let us know at the time of booking.
How much? £35 per adult, £30 per child. This includes all food and activities. If you would like to spread the cost please speak to your section leader.
Facilities: We have hired chemical toilets. Showers are not available on this site.
Catering: all food is included in the price and catering is central. You will get a cooked breakfast, sandwiches for lunch and a hot evening meal as well as mid-morning and afternoon snacks and hot chocolate and biscuits at bedtime. Please note that the catering will start with breakfast on Saturday. You will need to make provision for evening meal, snacks etc. on Friday night. There are plenty of outlets in Bedale which is 5 mins away.
Please make sure you let us know of any dietary requirements on your booking form. We can produce a gluten free, vegetarian, low fat, sugar free spag bol in the middle of a field but we need warning!!
If you would like to attend please complete the booking form you received through your section and return it to your section leader with your payment no later than 5th July 2018 if you have not attended a Family Camp before and don’t have a Scout DBS. If you didn’t get a form via your section drop us an email at [email protected] and we will send one straight back to you.
If you have a Scout DBS we can accept bookings until 1st September. You can return the form to me by email and pay by BACS – contact us for details.
Sorry but late bookings cannot be accepted.
Please note that all adults attending overnight must undergo a Scout Association DBS check even if you have been checked by another organisation. If you have attended a Family Camp in the past 5 years you will be covered. There is no charge for this check.
