Our Cubs, Scouts and Explorers (sorry, no Beavers on this one) have been invited by the team at Yorkshire Dales National Park to join in with some tree planting on Saturday 5th March. The day will consist mainly of tree planting but there will also be some tree identification activities along with a navigation and orienteering activity after lunch.

The location is Slack Hills Farm in Washfold, near Hurst. You absolutely cannot rely on postcodes for navigation in the Dales, so here are your navigation options:

Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/nAx4KgEHhJxZ3vg9A

Ordnance Survey: NZ 057027

what3words: ///grudge.turns.meaty (it’s not exactly there, but that w3w is a beauty)

We take no responsibility if you decide to dig up a postcode on Google and use that.

The day will run from 10am to around 2pm. There is no cost for this activity.

Your Cub/Scout/Explorer will need to have warm clothing for a winter’s day in the Dales, waterproof hiking boots, waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers. We’ll let you know later if full uniform is needed, but unless you hear otherwise, just a necker will be fine.

They’ll need a resealable drink bottle (full of a drink!) to last them all day. Lunch is provided, but don’t let that put you off putting in a few snacks to see you through. If you have any special dietary requirements, let us know on the permission form so we can pass it on to the National Park folks.

If you want to take part in the activity, all you need to do is complete the activity information form here, and turn up on the day.
