Beavers Autumn Term Programme

Welcome back to another new term.

This will be a busy term as we prepare for the Gang Show. Please make a note of extra rehearsals and do your best to be there. Don’t forget there is a Gang Show rehearsal sleepover on 14th October so make sure you bring your form and money in good time to book your place.

Gang show tickets are now available at £8 per adult and £6 per child each. You can book online or by phone 01325 281564. Numbers are limited so book early to avoid disappointment!

We are excited to announce that following on from feedback relating to our trip to Beamish last year we have been given permission to sleep over in the grand Masonic Hall at Beamish on Saturday 2nd December. The cost is £30 per head which includes travel to Beamish and back, a full day exploring Beamish on Saturday, evening meal, breakfast and overnight accommodation in the Masonic Hall. See separate info for more details.

We will be at Remembrance Parade on Sunday 12th November. This is the only parade in Barton of the year and I do expect all Beavers to attend. It’s part of the commitment we make when we join Scouting.

Attached to this term’s programme is a letter concerning changes to subs. Please read this carefully.

Thank you once again for your continuing support.

Scouts Summer Camp 2017 – Kit List and Joining Instructions

Hello there summer campers.  It’s a mere 11 days until camp and I bet you’re eager to pack.  Assuming you are you will find the kit list below.

Summer Camp 2017 – Kit List

It’s totally fine for parents to help scouts to pack but the scouts should be heavily involved so they know what is packed in their bags and what those things are to be used for.

The important timings that are missing from your invitation letter and form are:

  • Camp starts at 12:00 (midday) on Wednesday 30th August – bring your lunch
  • Camp ends at 12:00 (midday) on Sunday 3rd September – then go out for lunch

The location for the camp is Seeonee Lair Campsite and Activity Centre in Kettleness near Whitby.  There is excellent location information on this page of their website: – but for those who don’t want to go digging, the postcode they suggest is YO21 3RY.

Please bear in mind that this is a rural postcode and accuracy will be limited.  It will be a first visit to this site for many of our leaders and mobile phone coverage is unknown, so please prepare your navigation before you set out.  We may be unavailable or unable to help you once you are on the road.

If you’ve got any questions about the camp, the kit or the timings then please give us a shout.
